Most guests arrive expecting a jumping-off point and leave with Faro as the highlight. The Algarve's capital has a medieval old town, a proper fishing harbour, and restaurants that exist for locals — not tourists.
This is a real Portuguese city, and the villa puts you five minutes from the middle of it — and within easy reach of everything else the region offers.
A Real City.
Not a Resort.
The Algarve,

"Faro has what the resort towns don't — a real city, a real harbour, and restaurants that fill up because the food is good."

Getting Here
Faro Airport is 8 minutes from the villa. TAP Air Portugal, easyJet, Ryanair, and British Airways all operate direct routes from major European cities. No connection required from London or most UK regional airports. Car hire is available at the airport and recommended for getting the most from the region.
Getting Around
A car is the right answer. The Algarve is spread out and the roads are excellent. Uber operates in Faro city and around the airport -- useful for evenings in the old town when you would rather not drive. Car hire from the airport takes 20 minutes and costs less than most people expect for a week.
Groceries
Galeria Shopping Centre is 3 minutes by car -- full Continente supermarket, pharmacy, and restaurants. The covered Mercado Municipal is open weekday mornings for fresh fish, local produce, and regional cheeses. Or let us pre-stock the villa before you arrive.

Algarve Wine
A Note on Algarve Wine
The Algarve has four DOC wine regions and most visitors leave without trying any of them. The wines pair exceptionally well with local food and cost a fraction of what you would pay for equivalent quality elsewhere.
Ask at any good restaurant, or pick up a few bottles from the Faro market. The whites and roses in summer are worth the discovery. The reds from Tavira and Lagoa are worth bringing home.
